MEET DR. ALAN IRVIN
With a passion for both art and science, it's no surprise that orthodontics was a natural fit for Dr. Irvin as a profession. He truly enjoys giving people of all ages a healthy and beautiful smile. At Irvin Orthodontics, we believe that each patient deserves a customized orthodontic treatment plan catered to their individual needs and goals. We love watching the transformation of our patients' smiles, but we are particularly excited to see the boost of self-confidence that radiates when their treatment is complete. We have a very friendly and welcoming office for both children and adults. Our professional and talented staff love what they do and enjoy working with patients of all ages. Education and Continuing Education
Dr. Irvin graduated from Grimsley High School here in Greensboro. He traveled to Chapel Hill to attend the University of North Carolina where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts in biology with highest honors. He completed dental school and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at UNC, where he was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. He and his wife lived in Seattle for two years while he attended the University of Washington Orthodontic Residency program and earned his Master of Science in Dentistry.
Dr. Irvin is an Platinum Invisalign® Provider. He also attends continuing education courses on a regular basis so he can provide our patients with the most effective, efficient and up-to-date treatment possible.

In the Community
Dr. Irvin feels a genuine responsibility to give back to our community, and he routinely supports many local organizations and charities. Some of the larger organizations he has supported are the United Way, American Heart Association, Triad Stage, Arts Greensboro (the United Arts Council), the Greensboro Children’s Museum Greenhill, Canterbury School and Family Services of Greensboro
He has served on the local American Lung Association board and served as president for one year. He also served on the board of the Greensboro Artists’ League and was a member of the Canterbury School board of trustees for 12 years.
Outside the Office
“I am very happily married to my best friend Laura, who also grew up in Greensboro. We really enjoyed our time in Seattle during my residency but are glad we returned home to start my practice and our family. We have a son, Christopher, and a daughter, Allyson, and are so very proud of both of them! Our Boxer, Rhone, is also very much a part of our family.
I like gardening and playing a round of golf when I get the chance. Laura and I also enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. Cooking is a favorite pastime of mine, and I love to select the perfect bottle of wine to match with the meal. Once a year I enjoy a sailing adventure with a group of good buddies, and as you might guess, I am the chef!” – Dr. Alan Irvin
